In the sky, yes! But also for GENESIS from Kirkus Reviews!
Singer Erykah Badu said it best: "Keep in mind that I'm an artist, and I'm sensitive about my s%&t." This statement rings true for all of us, right? You can get 100 positive compliments, but there's that one negative remark that will keep you up at night and be with you till your last days. I promised myself that I wouldn't go down that road of internalizing and analyzing all the comments and reviews that people will leave on Amazon and Goodreads because, honestly, I've yet to master not caring.
BUUUUUUTTTTT---this---this STARRED REVIEW has already forced me to break my promise (and GENESIS isn't even out yet!). Seriously, with a proclamation such as-- "With smooth and engrossing prose, debut novelist Williams takes readers through and emotional, painful, yet still hopeful adolescent journey--how could I resist?!
This review is my first. And it has helped to straighten my back a bit more, so when one of those cringeworthy ones comes--keeping my fingers crossed that it doesn't, but if it does--and happens to reach my delicate ears, I can roll my eyes and say, "But at least GENESIS has smooth and engrossing prose."
